Concealed Carry Online Application Please Enter All Information
Welcome! This is an official application for a California Concealed Carry Weapon license. You must completely and accurately fill-out this application to be considered for a Concealed Carry Weapon License. Any falsification of the information within this application is a crime and will result in the denial of the applicant’s Concealed Carry Weapon license request.
Authority
California Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 provide that a Sheriff of a county or the Chief or other head of a municipal police department of any city, or city and county, may issue a license to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person (Concealed Carry Weapon license).
Prior to Filling Out This Application
- Be advised that the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office currently requires psychological testing for all NEW applicants.
- Be prepared to scan a copy of your valid state issued driver’s license, or state-issued ID, which has your current residential address.
- Full-time residents of California must provide a California issued driver's license or state issued ID with a current residential address in San Mateo County.
- Proof of Residency: Please be prepared to scan copies of two (2) different statements that reflect your name and your residential address from the following service providers: (Statements must be dated within the last 90 days. We DO NOT accept past due statements. We DO NOT accept any items other than those listed)

- Bank Account – (Mortgage Account Statements and Property Tax Statements are NOT accepted)
- Be sure that each firearm you are listing on your Concealed Carry Weapon license is registered in your name only. The firearm cannot be registered to any other person. The firearm also cannot be registered as a “single shot".
- OUT OF STATE APPLICANTS: Be prepared to upload proof of current membership to one of the following four national CCW organizations:
- California Rifle and Pistol Association
- Gun Owners of California
- Gun Owners of America
- Second Amendment Foundation
RENEWALS: You will need to enter your Agency License Number from your current CCW license in the PERMIT # field in the application (Ex: DXXXXXXXX).
MODIFICATIONS:
- ADDRESS CHANGE: you will need to upload TWO (2) Proofs of Residency with your new address (see above for acceptable documents).
- FIREARMS CHANGE: when adding, you may have up to three firearms. You will need to upload a copy of your qualification certificate for any additional/changed firearms via the Order Tracker upon completion of the application.
